Grumpy Old Men are based in Ottawa, Ontario and got together in the fall of 2014 to play some of their favourite songs. Since then they have performed at many venues in the Ottawa area, including: Busters, The Neighbourhood Pub, Barley Mow, The Carleton Tavern, Fatboy's Southern Smokehouse, The Newfoundland Pub, along with a number of Royal Canadian Legions in and around the Ottawa area. So if you like classic rock, blues or country, come out, catch us live and sing along !

John: Vocals / Guitar / Harmonica / Accordion John started playing and writing at the age of 15 and has performed with various bands and venues in the Ottawa and surrounding area ever since. His band Ruckus was a very popular party band in the 70s with many different members over the years. His influences range from The Beatles to country and everything in between, as well as a large Irish repertoire. He has released a solo CD called "Songs Of Life" that is available on most streaming services. John is very comfortable on stage and enjoys getting the audience involved in the music and interacting with the band. |
Roy: Bass / Vocals
Roy began developing his skill as a musician in the late 70's in the comedy/pop duo Brain Damage, performing in many of the landmark bars and clubs in Ottawa. A regular of Carleton University's Roosters Cafe, Roy developed a fan following and reputation, not only as a singer and instrumentalists, but as a songwriter. As a member of Brain Damage, Roy has recorded and produced 5 studio albums and 2 live albums, along with 1 album as a member of the group The Daralyx. From 1987 to 2015, Roy was a member of band Royal Albert and the Collection and was featuring on to albums "Live At Lipps" and "New Years Eve 1988" |
Jim: Drums / Percussion /Vocals
Jim began drumming in the late sixties and played in concert bands through his teens and early twenties. As well as playing both acoustic and electric drum sets, Jim is proficient on a variety of percussion instruments and occasionally is a guest percussionist playing Cajon, Djembe, Bongos, or a Remo Mondo snare drum with Alain Tambay, a well known local solo artist. In the recent past he has played with several bands in a multitude of styles, including rockabilly, jazz, country rock and classic rock. He has also occasionally been the house drummer for a couple of local open mics. Over the years he has also taught drumming. |
